Logo & Branding Strategy
Sarah approached me about freshening up the look and feel of her photography business. Having an eye for design herself, she had a logo and was using a popular website service already but it was time for a change. The dark background and thin lettering was nice, but she wanted a brand that suited her developing style.
Rather than having me design everything head to toe, we decided it would be best to focus our energy on a new logo, a brand guide and gift certificates. We collaborated on a mood board (thank you Pinterest!) to give definition to the look and feel of her new brand. Next was the logo. The gift certificates and branding guide were developed simultaneously as we finalized colors and patterns.
The magical part for me was seeing Sarah take her branding guide and really run with it. Since the initial design work I completed for her she has updated her website, created business cards and updated her social media presence to reflect her new brand in style.
1. Logo Development
Collaborating on Pinterest and collecting ideas for fonts and colors made logo development a breeze. Sarah and I agreed the script for her logo needed to have the following characteristics:
- casual but not sloppy
- formal but not stiff
2. Branding Guide
Pinterest is great, but it’s way more helpful to have key notes handy and compiled in an organized fashion. The branding guide was neatly printed and bound and included:
- mood board
- font choices
- color palettes (primary and secondary)
- pattern examples
- photography style examples
- social media profile and cover photo mockups
3. Print Design
Making decisions about the look and feel of Hassemer House Photography’s new brand became easier as I worked out design challenges working on custom gift certificates. It gave me a chance to use her real photography (isn’t it gorgeous!), new logo and new colors and patterns.
Print Design Services
Working with Marie has been the best! She exceeded all of my expectations for my brand refresh. I gave her my ideas and the feeling I wanted my brand to exude and the result she provided was exactly what I was looking for. If you want a designer who listens to you and brings her own amazing design skills to the table – work with Marie. Plus, she’s a rock star at communicating which is such a rare find for a creative personality. She always communicated where she was in the development of my brand and didn’t mind the several additional emails I sent her with my thoughts. I will definitely use her again for my future design work!Sarah Hassemer
Sarah continued her branding on her new website, business cards and a fresh look on her Facebook page. The branding guide I created for Hassemer House Photography gave her confidence to make decisions and choose exactly how to focus her creative energy. It dialed down the options and ramped up enthusiasm.
